Yates Kingstowne Car Wash & Convenience

This post is just information for others on the VA car inspection. I got in line just after 8:00. There was one car in the bay and four in front of me. A really nice lady walked down the line and offered a cookie and coffee to everyone. I never had that happen before! Attendant walked back to my car around 8:05, I asked how long it should take. He said I should be seen in about 45 minutes. I had to roll at 8:50, when the car in front of me was taken in for inspection, I was out of time. Just fyi, planning purposes.

I really wanted to like this place. I come here at least twice a year after an oil change. The guys who work the towel dry after exiting the carwash simply do not want to be there. I don't blame them. The job is not fun, but since we're paying for a service, you'd think they would just grin and bear it. They spent most of the time arguing with each other as I watched from the tree bench. They kept radioing their manager asking for more help, but there were only three cars needing service, and three of them. I got there last, and somehow my car was done before everyone else's. Only three of my tires were dressed, and the door sills were still dirty. I asked the guy to give it a once-over, but he didn't understand. He left a towel on my windshield and just didn't feel like grabbing it when I pointed it out. My windshield looked worse than when I came in. It must be tough to get good workers to want to do that work. I tipped them, but probably shouldn't have. Oh, this is fixable. Hope they fix it.

$50 for a car wash and left with visible dirt on my handle. It also took an hour when they weren’t even busy. The automated washer does an ok job. If you need a quick wash, I would recommend just doing that and getting out of there.

I paid $52 plus a $10 tip and expected my car to be spotless, the way it has always been in the past. I’ve come here many times and never experienced a job this poorly done. The exterior still had visible marks, and the interior wasn’t cleaned to the standard I’m used to. For the price, this was disappointing and unacceptable. I expect consistent quality, and this visit fell far below that. I shouldn’t have to come home and clean the spots that were missed.

Candace is truly exceptional! She is always attentive, helpful, and efficient every time I visit. No matter how busy it gets, she greets everyone with a warm welcome and a positive attitude. She’s knowledgeable about the store and always courteous, making each interaction quick and pleasant. Whether I’m stopping in for a quick car wash or just picking up a few items, I genuinely look forward to seeing her. She consistently goes above and beyond and really makes my day. Employees like Candace make all the difference — I absolutely love her!
